Public Works Department
The Public Works Department is dedicated to providing the services required to ensure a sustainable community to the citizens of Troutman by attaining the goals required to meet current and future water, wastewater, and other infrastructure systems challenges.
WATER MAINTENANCE
The Public Works Water Division is responsible for the maintenance of roughly 53 miles of water line that range in size from ¾” to 16”. This system includes hundreds of fire hydrants, valves, an Energy United water tie in valve pit, two water tanks (1 300,000 gal tank and 1 1,000,000 gal tank), and a SCADA alarm/monitoring system that keeps track of all tank levels and water flow coming into the system.
SEWER MAINTENANCE
The Public Works Sewer Division is responsible for the maintenance of roughly 44 miles of sewer line within the town that range from 4” to 12”. This system includes 32 miles of gravity sewer line, 14 miles of force main sewer, 15 sewer pump stations that include submersible grinder and turbine grinder pump assemblies, and a Strison alarm/monitoring telemetry system that keeps track of each station’s status individually.
STREET MAINTENANCE
Public Works Street Maintenance Division is responsible for maintaining all city streets curbs/gutters.
FLEET MAINTENANCE
The Public Works Fleet Maintenance division maintains the Town’s fleet of over 50 vehicles and pieces of equipment through continuous preventative maintenance and operational testing.
GROUNDS MAINTENANCE
The Public Works Ground’s Division is responsible for maintaining and scheduling all jobs pertaining to mowing and landscape design. These duties include cutting grass, weed eating, edging, landscape design, and installation, & herbicide application.
