Planning & Zoning

The Town of Troutman Planning Department develops short-term and long-term plans and implementation processes for land use, transportation, demographics, economic development, community facilities, public utilities, environmental concerns, and recreation. In addition, the Planning Department provides technical assistance to the Town Council, various appointed advisory boards, and the general public in matters relating to the physical and strategic growth of the Town. The Planning Department is further involved in the development, administration, and enforcement of a wide variety of development ordinances (zoning, signage, subdivisions, watershed protection, floodplain prevention, etc.). In addition, the Department also creates and maintains the Town’s GIS (Geographic Information System) for data mapping and analysis.
